Pursuing Priscilla
Emily Hendrickson
Excerpt
A Proper Proposal
“Will you marry me?”
Priscilla stared at him in amazement and vexation. Never
in her dreams had she anticipated an offer from an earl.
He moved to take Priscilla’s hand, drawing her to her
feet. “This is sudden, you may say.”
“True, it is, my lord.”
“Your father seemed to think you might welcome my
advance.”
“That is also true. I cannot think of any young woman
who would not be pleased to have the attentions from so
handsome and polished a gentlemen.” Her voice was soft and
low, intimately husky.
“Priscilla, I care not for what other young women might
like. I want to know what you want.” At the confusion he
saw in her eyes, he instinctively drew her close and placed
a kiss he intended to be chaste and brief on her lips. Only
the kiss did not go as planned. Her innocent response
aroused his senses. He deepened the kiss, his ardor
unconsciously released.
Marrying to make his family respectable suddenly became
enormously appealing.
