The Rake Fiancee A forgotten love Phoebe Lowell, the belle of the London Season, was engaged to be married, but she broke the engagement when she discovered that Ben Holden, her fiancee, was a rake. Eight years later, alone and supporting herself by working as a china painter in a pottery factory, Phoebe is caught in a snowstorm and obliged to seek shelter at the nearest house.
