Lady Hillary's Halloween A Magic Circle The first meeting between Lady Hilary Merton and James Wincanon, the dashing new owner of a neighboring estate, did not go as planned. An avid student of archaeology, the spinster politely asked permission to excavate on his land. But James rudely accused her of feigning an interest in his favorite subject-to trap him into wedlock. Hilary was appalled. She certainly had no interest in a bachelor as insufferably conceited as James Wincanon. Then an astonishing thing happened.
